DISTRICT 8 TOY RUN
November 25, 2012

We, ABATE of Colorado District 8 appreciate  All Of You--from all of the wonderful and generous businesses and folks that donated to all of the participants that joined us on an absolutely beautiful day, a little chilly, but You Rode!! It was so magical and wonderful to have 91 bikes making their way from the Fun Center to the VFW following Santa and being escorted by the Durango Police Department. We would like to say thank you very much to the Durango Police Department for sending us 2 of their officers to escort our riders on their route which included a little extra time because our riders rode by the Chapel up by Fort Lewis to say goodbye to our good friend, fellow ABATE Member and great supporter Don Hall.

When all the riders arrived they brought with them arm loads of toys to go under the tree, all over the table and floor. The pile of toys was magnificent! Our attendees enjoyed some awesome assorted chili's cooked by our ABATE members, great music donated by Geary Parsons from Windwolf Productions, they participated in the Silent Auction and won a bunch of goodies donated by businesses all over. All in all it was just a superb day!!

Project Merry Christmas was on hand to gather up all of the toys when our event was over and we will be able to hand them a check for $2,000.00 again this year!!

We do want to mention and say a special thank you to Kirk James-James Graphics for our Toy Run Flyer every year plus he always donates some great pin striping items for our silent auction. Thank you Fun Center for opening their doors every year and having donuts and coffee for all the riders so they can warm up from their ride in. The VFW for donating their hall every year for us to have a place to hold our event. They are wonderful folks! We also want to say thank you very much to the newspapers (Pine River Times & Durango Herald), all the radio stations and the Durango Tourism Center for getting our information out to folks so they knew about the Toy Run. Jerry & Chloe Jackson & family, Lisa Blue and other individuals that help us out every year by donating their time to help us at the Toy Run. Thank you Emily Spencer from the Starter for always providing us with chafing dishes. There are so many folks that help us and we appreciate each of you more than you will ever know.

Thank you One and All for being a part of our 20th Annual Toy Run--You are the folks that make our Toy Run happen every year!! You all have once again brought smiles to so many children on Christmas morning and helped make the day very special for so many families!!

God Bless You All!!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from ABATE of Colorado District 8
